Earning IU credit

Get IU credit for taking College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) exams

If you’ve completed College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) exams, you may be able to earn IU Bloomington credit before you even start classes.

CLEP exams and IU credit

IU Bloomington awards credit for College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) exams to all incoming Ï㽶ÊÓƵs, including those who have been or are currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces or National Guard and have earned a score of 50 or higher on one or more CLEP exams.

Individual schools, departments, and programs at IU Bloomington determine the credit awarded for each exam and score. To be considered for credit, Ï㽶ÊÓƵs must have an official CLEP report sent to the IU Bloomington Office of Admissions.

Please note: College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) credit is offered to incoming Ï㽶ÊÓƵs and those who have been or are currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces or National Guard. Current IU Ï㽶ÊÓƵs are not eligible to receive CLEP course credit.

Note: “UN” in the following table indicates undistributed credit that will not be assigned to a specific course but will count toward an IU Bloomington degree.
