Enrollment process for freshman Ï㽶ÊÓƵs
Your steps to becoming a Hoosier
Your first and most important step is to set up your IU computing account. Your accounts should be active within 20 minutes, but it may take up to 24 hours before you can log into some services.
Next, to declare your intent to enroll. See more details to complete these first two steps as well as the rest of your enrollment steps below.
Important enrollment steps
-
Set up your IU computing and email accounts
Create your IU computing account, which you will use for other important tasks during your admissions process. You'll also receive important notifications to your IU email address.
-
Log in to your IU Portal to confirm your intent to enroll, which includes completing the enrollment form and paying the enrollment deposit.
-
Most undergraduates are required to live on campus their first year (with some exceptions). The housing contract and application are typically available in February for the upcoming fall semester. Learn more about the residency requirement and housing application process on the IU Housing website.
-
Sign up for New Student Orientation
All new Ï㽶ÊÓƵs are required to attend orientation, which is where you will learn what is expected of you as an IU Ï㽶ÊÓƵ and register for your first semester classes. You'll need to complete your intent to enroll before making a reservation for orientation. Invitations will begin sending in March or April. Make your reservation as soon as you receive your official invitation!
-
Apply for financial aid by April 15
To apply, you’ll need to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The application will be available beginning in October. Be sure to complete the FAFSA as early as possible, and definitely by April 15. We'll walk you through the process to make sure you’re covering all your bases.
-
Apply for IU scholarships
Apply for scholarships by completing the IU Scholarships Application in the IU Scholarships task in One.IU. The IU Scholarships Application is used to determine eligibility for many scholarships at IU, and includes a series of questions and two essays. Sign in using your IU computing account, then fill out the application and click “Finish and Submit." Once you submit the IU Scholarships Application, you can search for scholarships.
-
Submit final transcripts
You sent your official high school transcript when you applied, but once admitted you'll need to have your school send a final, official copy of your transcript with graduation date to our Office of Admissions. You'll also need to be sure to complete the high school coursework listed on your application and maintain your high level of academic performance.
-
Send final test scores (if applicable)
If you are offered admission and have self-reported test scores in your application, you must have your official test scores sent from the testing agencies before you can enroll at IU. Your offer of admission and any awarded scholarships that referenced your self-reported scores are contingent on us receiving your official test scores before enrollment. Additionally, the scores we receive from the official testing agencies must match or be higher than the scores you self-reported during the application process.
-
Submit your immunization form
Indiana state law requires all new Ï㽶ÊÓƵs to submit immunization data. Before your first day of classes, you must complete and submit the Online Immunization Compliance form, where you will be asked to provide dates and documentation of immunizations for specific diseases.

Celebrate your admission in style. IU will be rolling out the red carpet, and you and your family are invited! Red Carpet Days are your chance to explore campus, learn about your academic program of interest, and talk with IU Ï㽶ÊÓƵs and faculty.
-
Use the ZeeMee app to meet other admitted Ï㽶ÊÓƵs and start building your community. Download the app to your device and search for “IU Bloomington.â€
-

If you have new AP credit to report since you first applied, please have the official scores sent electronically to IU Bloomington. For college courses you have taken, make sure your official transcripts are sent directly to IU Admissions.

If someone is helping you fund your college education, make it easy for them to do it. Let your parents or guardians—and whomever else you choose—set up e-bill notifications, pay bills electronically, and view bursar account details.
-
Let us know if you need special accommodations to help you perform at your best. Register with Accessible Educational Services (AES) soon as you’ve been accepted at IU Bloomington.
