Ready to become a Hoosier?

Students who are enrolled at an accredited, two- or four-year college, including another IU campus, and meet published IU Bloomington admission standards will be guaranteed admission to the IU Bloomington campus. Once admitted, 香蕉视频s have the opportunity to pursue and complete the admission requirements for their preferred academic program.

There are two application options to choose from, but you should submit only one application for transfer admission to IU Bloomington.

  • Use the Apply IU Application to apply to IU Bloomington鈥攁nd apply to more than one Indiana University campus.

  • Use the Common Application to apply to any of over 900 schools.

Before you begin the application process, there are a few steps you should take to get ready to apply.

  • Use our Credit Transfer Service to explore how courses you've taken at other colleges might transfer to IU. If you are admitted, we will evaluate your transcript(s) and provide a transfer credit report outlining which of your courses translate to IU credit.

Complete your application

Once you've reviewed all of the information you need to know before you apply, it's time to submit your application! Start by selecting the or , then complete the steps in this section.
  • Complete the application essay

    As part of your application, regardless of which platform you choose, you will need to submit an essay. If you are applying through the Common Application, you will need to submit one of the essay prompts. If you are applying through Apply IU, you will need to submit the IU-specific essay.   • Send your transcripts

    We require an official transcript from each college or university you have attended. If you have completed fewer than 26 transferable semester hours (or 39 quarter hours) of college coursework, we will review your high school transcript as part of the admissions process.

  • Complete direct admission steps (optional)

    If your program offers direct admission and requires additional admission steps (like auditions) or academic criteria, you may need to provide that along with your completed application. Review our page on admission paths to learn if your program requires additional steps.

  • Pay the application fee or request a waiver

    When you submit your application, you must pay a $65 nonrefundable application fee. Your application will not be processed and we will not make an admission decision until we receive a completed waiver or the application fee.

  • Double check your browser settings

    Make sure you allow pop-ups and enable third-party cookies to ensure that your application and fee payment will be submitted correctly. If you experience any payment issues, please contact us at admsbus@iu.edu or 812-855-0661. In the processing of your application, any required information that is missing will be added to your Checklist in your IU Portal as a required item.

Sign up for a transfer visit to explore the IU Bloomington campus in person or virtually. These programs are tailored to the transfer 香蕉视频 experience, including a personalized review of your transfer credits.

Steps to take after you apply

Once you apply, you will be invited to your IU Portal where you can check your application status. Review the steps listed here to learn more about what you can do after you apply. We’ll let you know if you’ve been accepted four to eight weeks after we receive all your application documents.
  • Once you have started your application, login information for your IU Portal will be sent by email within 2 to 3 business days. From the IU Portal, you will be able to check the status of your application and review the checklist items you need to complete. If any checklist items are listed as required, your application will not be further reviewed until those items are received. After your items are received, it may take up to four weeks for them to be updated in your checklist. Please be patient and check back frequently.

  • Create your IU computing account

    Your university ID number will be listed in your IU Portal. Use your university ID number to create your IU computing account, which you will use for other important tasks during your admission process, including direct admission review requests.

  • To learn how to make changes to your application, log in to your IU Portal. Please note that if you change your intended major, your application for admission will be reviewed again, even if you already received a decision. If you'd like to cancel, complete the cancellation form within your IU Portal.

  • If admitted, you can access your detailed Transfer Credit Report approximately two to three weeks after admission through the 鈥淭ransfer Credits鈥 app in One.IU. For general transfer credit questions, visit the Credit Transfer Service site or contact the Office of Admissions. For course equivalency or degree-related questions, contact your school or college.

If you're admitted to IU Bloomington, you'll need to reserve your space by indicating your intent to enroll.

Campus safety and security reports

Indiana University's annual security reports, which contain policy statements as well as crime and fire statistics for Indiana University campuses, are available online. You may also request a physical copy by emailing IU Public Safety at iups@iu.edu.
