Work with your department.
Each department has its own set of steps you will need to follow after you are admitted. Look for communications from your academic department or school for your specific enrollment steps.
Apply for housing.
Most undergraduates are required to live on campus their first year (with some exceptions). The housing contract and application are typically available in February for the upcoming fall semester. Learn more about the residency requirement and housing application process on the IU Housing website.
Apply for housing.
If you have more than 12 credit hours of transfer coursework, you can choose to live on or off campus. We recommend you live on campus during your first year, as it’s the best way to plug into a community of people and start making friends. If you want to live off-campus, you will need to apply for a residency exemption. The housing contract and application are typically available in February for the upcoming fall semester. Learn more about the residency requirement and housing application process on the IU Housing website.
Review housing options.
Learn more about off-campus housing. You should also work with your academic department as they may have additional information or provide further assistance in finding you a place to live.
Sign up for New Student Orientation.
All new Ï㽶ÊÓƵs are required to attend orientation, which is where you will learn what is expected of you as an IU Ï㽶ÊÓƵ and register for your first semester classes. You'll need to complete your intent to enroll before making a reservation for orientation. Invitations will begin sending in March or April. Make your reservation as soon as you receive your official invitation!
Submit final transcripts.
As an incoming international Ï㽶ÊÓƵ, you need to provide the official academic records you provided to complete your application and final secondary school transcripts no later than four weeks after the beginning of your first semester.
Submit final transcripts.
Incoming transfer Ï㽶ÊÓƵs are required to have final secondary school transcripts sent to the Office of International Services before beginning at IU. All documents must be official and original (no photocopies or notarized copies). English translations must be provided for all non-English language documents.
Submit your immunization form.
Indiana state law requires all new Ï㽶ÊÓƵs to submit immunization data. Before your first day of classes, you must complete and submit the Online Immunization Compliance form, where you will be asked to provide dates and documentation of immunizations for specific diseases.
Transfer your SEVIS record to IU.
If you are currently studying in the U.S. as an F-1 Ï㽶ÊÓƵ, you will need to transfer your SEVIS record to Indiana University.
Complete the New Graduate Student Guide
Hosted as a Canvas course, the New Graduate Student Guide will help prepare you for your first semester as an IU Bloomington graduate Ï㽶ÊÓƵ.
Review costs and fees.
Official tuition rates and fees are always available for your review. That includes complete billing and payment information and details on how to set up a personal deferment—or installment—plan.
Connect with other Hoosiers.
When you enroll at IU Bloomington, you’ll receive an invitation to join our official, private online admitted Ï㽶ÊÓƵ community. You can visit often to look for a roommate, join communities, plan meet-ups, find campus events, and get to know other Ï㽶ÊÓƵs. You can also connect with the Office of International Services on social media.
Understand the tools and support you'll use at IU.
IU Bloomington provides tools and support to help you manage registration, financial aid, billing, and Ï㽶ÊÓƵ records throughout your college experience. Student Central is the team behind these services and can help you navigate important processes and deadlines.
